Social Media Marketing Analytics; is this a fair definition?

Is this a fair definition for Social Media Marketing analytics?

Social Media Marketing Analytics: the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data for the purposes of understanding the effectiveness and enabling the optimization of social media marketing efforts.

Clearly (and purposely) ample; I believe Social Media Monitoring fits within this definition; but is not the only one that fits.. You have the likes of ShareThis that also fit here on the value they are offering through their products services.

What do you think?

I would say that this is a fair description for social media marketing analytics.
However, while monitoring does employ some of these things, I would say that the two are completely separate from each other.

Thanks for your comment Sheldon; however I am not sure I understand what specifically you mean by "monitoring does employ some of these things,"

I think Social Media Monitoring does focus on "measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data" and one of the key reasons it focuses on that is for the "understanding the effectiveness and enabling the optimization of social media marketing efforts"
